  • New members will play off their official club handicap and will not be allowed to win on first appearance to allow the handicap secretary to assess the players handicap accuracy.
  • Members will start a new golfing season on the same Wedges handicap as they finished the previous season.
  • Handicaps will be revised according to the following list:
    37 - 38
    39 - 40
    41 - 43
    44 - 45
    Over 45

    Captain's or Committee decision

  • The actual handicap adjustment will depend on the player category:
    0 - 6
    7 - 12
    13 - 18
  • This would be similar to CONGU rules whereby lower handicap players are penalised less than higher handicap players.
  • The winner on the day will be dropped a minimum of two shots irrespective of their handicap.
  • If a player's official club handicap is reduced below his Wedges handicap then the Wedges handicap will be reduced accordingly. It is therefore up to members to inform the handicap secretary.
  • If no players achieve a score of 36 points, the Captain, in consultation with the Vice-Captain, Handicap Secretary and/or other committee members will decide the handicap revisions for the day.
  • In the event of a high scoring day where players other than the winner, second and third places achieve over 36 points then the handicap revisions will be decided by the Handicap Secretary in consultation with the Captain, Vice Captain and/or other comittee personnel
  • The Wedges committee reserve the right to forward any cards to the player's home club.
Upward revision of handicap

Upward revisions to a members handicap are achievable if :-

a) The member is a bone fide member of a recognised golf club and has an up-to-date handicap certificate.
b) The certificate is provided to our handicap secretary as proof.
c) The member has not been dropped by Wedges.
d) The member has been dropped by Wedges but does not finish in the TOP 20 on a Wedges day. In this case the member will be entitled to an upward revision of one stroke.

In the case of a) above, the upward revision will take effect immediately from the issue of the new handicap certificate subject to point b). In the case of d) above the new handicap will take place at the next Wedges game.

In the event of point c) the ' TOP 20 ' rule will then be applied until the new handicap is achieved.

No-returns will not be taken into consideration for upward revision of handicaps, however if there is a genuine reason for the no-return then two's nearest the pin, longest drive etc will still be awarded.

The Wedges reserve the right to retain exceptional score cards and submit them to the members relevant golf club. They also reserve the right to control members handicaps where this is deemed to be necessary by the handicap committee.

Stuart Cable Cup Rules
Pairs competitions for Wedges members only. players must have played a minimum of 4 Wedges days prior to the quarter final so that the handicapping of players is fair.
All games to be played on a match play basis.

¾ The difference off the lowest handicapped player.
If your partner cannot play for whatever reason you must play the match as a single player against the other pair.
If your opponents fail to turn up on the day arranged, then you may claim the match.
Your current Wedges handicap applies.
All matches to be played between Wedges days.
Home advantage will be determined by the toss of a coin. The semi final and final will be played on a neutral venue.
